Building Process Video 15Lot SpinoffHere is the 15th video in our ongoing Building Process Video Series. Our next step is to rough grade or "spinoff" the lot. This establishes initial drainage away from the foundation and sets up a clean jobsite for easy navigation and placement of building materials. Sometimes builders make the mistake of not scheduling this step prior to framing layout. If backhoes or grading tractors are operating while the house is being framed, there is more opportunity for safety issues and accidents. Also, an ungraded lot is horrible for lumber delivery, etc. OWNER BUILDER ONLINE BUILDING PROCESS VIDEOS CONTRACTORS ONLINE SHOPPING FOR OWNER BUILDERS BUY TOOLS CEILING FANS KIT HOMES CONTACT US
Step 15: Lot SpinoffLas Vegas ProjectBUILDING PROCESS VIDEOSLOT PREPARATION 1
Building Process Videos: Step 16-FRAMING LAYOUT AND PLATESTAY TUNED, MORE TO COME..We will be continuing our Building Process Video Series for the next several months. The typical residential project takes 4-6 months, however, our Las Vegas Project is a 10,000 square foot custom home. It will take a total of 12 months to complete. While it may not be exactly what most owner builders are undertaking, it will demonstrate the building process that is common to all projects. Remember, these videos are brief and fairly general. They are meant to familiarize owner builders with the building process. There is a lot of additional education and experience that an owner builder should seek out before starting their own project. As they say, knowledge is power. Our goal is to show owner builders that a complicated, enormous custom home is built the in same way, using the same contractors, subcontractors, steps and materials, as the smaller, "simpler" projects that most of us plan to build. Of course, there will be unique challenges that may not apply to an individual's owner builder experience. They will, however, hopefully address another's issues. I hope the videos are enjoyable and informative. I am still learning how to shoot and edit video. As time goes on, I will probably go back and re-edit some of the videos I have already done.
