Owner Builders, Do Your Research

We encourage all owner builders to obtain multiple bids from licensed and insured subcontractors for every area of the construction process. It is critical that they conduct their own due diligence for each subcontractor, interviewing and checking references. Listing on this site is by no means an endorsement of a contractor by the website or by Bade Web Enterprises, LLC.

Building a significant list of Ada County building contractors and suppliers will take a while and for that reason, we are allowing companies to list on our website, free of charge. We will evaluate our status in the future and eventually may apply a small fee for listing. It is our intention to provide an affordable, effective, long term platform for licensed building contractors and subcontractors to offer their services to our owner builder visitors.

Framing contractors should be considered for a variety of tasks. In addition to obtaining bids for materials from the local lumber yard and home improvement store, have the framer develop a bid that shows options. For instance, many framers get a better price on lumber and other materials than an owner builder would. Even with a contractor's markup on materials, the number they provide MAY be better than what an owner builder would get separately. This isn't always the case but it is worth considering.

Options that framing contractors can add- lumber pack, truss pack, trim carpentry pack ( check recent projects for quality ), window pack and installation. If the framer can do more and make a little profit in each area, it's a bonus for them and may end up being big savings for you. Also, if they are in charge of ordering the materials and making sure the lumber, trusses or windows are on site when required, they cannot blame you if they don't start on time.
